GUEST BATHROOM BLUES....

My guest bathroom was giving me the blues....although the toilet and tub is mustard yellow! Yes, that lovely shade of yellow that was in every home in the late 60's early 70's. I have to tackle the color of the toilet and tub later, for now, its the mirror and light!

Once again "The Hulk" aka boyfriend took it down. This one was a little easier to get down....until we got to the 4th screw. The 4th screw would not come out...so we took the saw to it!

Awww...the fruits of our labor.....so much prettier..except for the mustard yellow shower!!! I found this mirror on the trash heap when I lived in Brooklyn 6 years ago. I painted it white with laquer spray paint to give it a fresh look.

MASTER BATHROOM LIGHTING

The average human being spends about 17 years of their lifetime in the bathroom...at least that is what it says online. With that being said, proper lighting and great mirrors are a must!

The lighting fixture in my Masterbath was a complete diaster! I have never seen something so rusty in my life...it looked like something that was pulled up from the Titantic. GROSS! It has been connected to the wall since 1971, the year the house was built.

My boyfriend's frequent visits to the gym really paid off!! It took muscles and a lot of elbow grease (plus a hammer) to get that puppy down.

It's amazing that this thing did not catch on fire!! There is literally electric tape and wires connected to each light bulb. I love vintage but this is not something from the 1960's that I like.

Thanks to my handy dandy boyfriend/electrican the new light looks BEAUTIFUL!! I have to paint behind the fixture to cover up the space where the old fixture was attached.

FRONT DOOR INSPIRATION

The best part about moving into a house is decorating and doing renovations! I LOVE doing home projects! Although my new pad is move-in ready, there were several cosmetic projects that needed to be done ASAP!

1. Project #1-- remove the screen enclosure on the front of the house. It's sooo ugly and makes the front of the house look dark. Plus it doesn't showcase the midcentury modern design of the home.

                                                         After
What a difference right?! Next project...paint the red section of the driveway white. Speaking of painting, I saw a post from a blog about door colors. This yellow one is very inspiring and cheerful......I LOVE it!

Home Sweet Mid-Century Modern Home

I never thought buying a house would be so difficult!!! I figured I could handle all the stress due to my tough New York City skin, but the South Florida housing market was definitely challenging!! Needless to say, I'm finally all moved in and loving every minute of being in my Mid-Century Modern Beauty!!

My neighborhood was featured in one of my favorite home magazines: Atomic Ranch. Click on the link below:
